Independent supervision for doulas and other birth workers

For particularly, experienced doulas or birth workers, it can be challenging to find a safe space to emotionally download. Someone to mentor The Mentor as it were. Yet a commitment to reflective practice means that even workers at the top of their game still need support.

After 20 years of supporting birthing mothers, fathers, families and new doulas, and after three years of scaling back my voluntary roles within Doula UK and releasing my doula course to new ownership, I am now pleased to be able to offer supervision sessions for doulas and other birth workers, on an independent basis.

This is a confidential service and intended to be led by whatever you feel would be most useful for you. In the spirit of reflective practice, my aim is to provide a safe space for us to think together about whatever comes up and to support you to integrate your increased awareness into your work/practice.

I am happy to work face to face, by Skype or telephone. We can arrange our meeting(s) on a once off, fortnightly or monthly basis to suit your needs.

Cost £40 per hour (£35 concessions). Feel free to get in touch with any queries you may have or if you would like to make a booking.

Boundaries: supervision is different from counselling although sometimes the boundaries between the two may become challenged, for example if personal issues are impacting on your capacity to work.

In view of maintaining clarity, I work to a contract which outlines our working boundaries and which I ask to be signed in agreement by us both before commencing supervision.

I am happy to offer supervision to anyone who is working in a supportive role with birth and birthing families, including those with whom I have an existing professional relationship.
